Cancer is a vicious and terrible disease that affects everyone around it, even those it does not directly infect. This video, which is beautifully produced by Shannon Palmer, captures the emotions and mental strength of her aunt, Lisa Cook and her 14 year battle with breast cancer.
In the fall of 2013, I flew to the Philippines for the first time to visit my aunt so that I could meet her before cancer took her away. She died a month later, and every time I think of my time with her I remember the good, the laughs, the joy and the love. This video here really does an excellent job of embodying those same feelings, and I have nothing but respect for Palmer who took her positive attitude and smile with her to the very end.
Thank you Jaron for featuring my video! I'm sorry to hear that you went through a similar situation, but it makes me smile knowing that you have fond memories to hold onto as well. Focusing on the laughs and love is the best way to honor the memory of those we've lost to cancer - i know my aunt wouldn't have it any other way!
thank you
