It's easy to dismiss the amount of difficulty involved in location shoots. A few years ago, Joey Lawrence (JoeyL) shot a personal project of portraits in Ethiopia. Whether traveling by van, boat or Indiana Jones plane, it's great to have the opportunity to see how hard the literal journey was on the way to the figurative photographic destination. Just handling the equipment was a pretty substantial undertaking.
The full journey had Joey in Ethiopia for about a month and a half, but he has returned to the area several times since to continue developing the project. You can view much more of his work from this series here, as well as read our interview with Joey where he talks more about his travels.

He ventured far and got his rewards. :)
Can't get enough of Joey L.. It's hard looking up to someone almost half my age. =P Can't wait until he releases more tutorials.
there is a shot at 4:46 that is just plain phenomenal.
