Five Essentials Things Video Editors Should Know How to Do in Premiere Pro

If you're just getting into shooting and editing video, you're probably running into the veritable plethora of editing techniques and tricks that you need to have at the ready to produce content. Luckily, this great tutorial will get you off and running in Premiere Pro.

In this video by Justin Odisho, you'll learn about the five most essential techniques you need to have mastered to produce quality video content when using Premiere Pro. Odisho walks us through adding text titles, color correction and basic grading (which is not unlike working in Photoshop on a still image), adjusting a clip's speed to create slow motion and fast-forward effects (be sure to pay attention to how many fps it was shot in so you know how much you can slow it down without creating choppy footage), applying transitions, and adding music and sound effects. Notice how Odisho uses the waveform of the music to align edits to the beat; it's a quick and easy way to pair image and sound. Also, if you're looking to dive into transitions a bit more deeply, be sure to check out his playlist of 25 videos solely on creating them in Premiere Pro. Now, get out there and shoot some video!

The Titler has been mover to File-New Legacy Title. Fortunately, it is still control-T (or Command-T on a Mac.)
