2.59 - "Solid"

This image was taken with my iPhone 6 using pano mode. The iPhone 6 had just come out and a colleague brought one back from the United States three days after the release. My son was around six months old and waking up very early every morning and good thing or I would have missed it. After putting him back down to bed I went to grab my DSLR and new iPhone. We lived in Dubai for three years on assignment and lived in South Ridge on the 47th floor overlooking downtown Dubai. I posted the image to social media when I was contacted by an advertising firm that asked to sign a contract before discussing which image they wanted to purchase. After signing the contract I was told that the image was going to be used on a shot on iPhone 6 campaign. It was featured in over 200 magazines and just over 20 billboards around the globe. I’m not gonna share how much I was compensated for but they ended up giving me a substantial amount. The image was later on used on the front page of Apple.com that stated the two and only. Pretty rad.

Why wont you share how much you were paid? I cant see any reason why that information should be kept a secret and also it is part of the rules for the competition.

Wow, so this was licensed to Apple? Please list how much you licensed it for so we have an idea on the fee structure. It's awesome to see an image taken by an iphone!

"I'm not going to (follow the rules of the contest) but they ended up giving me a substantial amount".....

Nice shot, but seriously with people and the rules of this contest.

Yeah, I don't know why I made a deal about it. I received $4600. It's funny, I came back at them with my limited knowledge of global usage/buyout and they responded, yeah we'll pass and use another image. I panicked and was like, I'm good with the amount.
