Hi F stoppers this photo is of my best friends son he's only 11, this was taken while he and his brother were at training camp in France. this was a Training race. I am an amateur at 59, this was shot on my Canon7d m2 with a 150-500 f5.6 sigma, and edited on Lightroom.

Further down the hill under the gate looking up or get on the inside of that turn shooting back to the turning pole. Skiing is tough and it is what I do professionally. It's all about the angles so you need to know the light and the direction of turn, and the terrain. The above comments also make sure you are safe and the athlete is safe. Always consider the fall zone and speed.

Great shot man. I would consider shooting with something that has less elements (like a prime), since the photo looks really flat.

Thanks for liking my photo Bill and Odyseusz. And your feed back is helpful to a trying amateur. Bill where can i see your work. Cheers.

Phil, www.pixlproject.com and instagram #pixproject. Off to shoot the Garmish World Cup Downhill so will post up some recent images soon. Instagram has some recent skiing. Also shooting with zooms is fine. I shot a lot with Nikon 200-400 and 500mm. Now shooting Sony and the 100-400 w/ 1.4 teleconverter. It's lovely to shoot with 600mm but difficult to travel with that size lens.Your shot is great just need to look for the most compelling angle while staying safe. Getting the athlete coming towards you with a turning pole reference is preferred.
