I consider this shot luck for two reasons. 1 for the work I had to put into to get into this position to get this shot. And 2 for getting the timing and the shutter speed right to get the crashing of the waves into the rocks.
To get this shot I by passed the usual photo spots that had many photographers gathered around them and instead traversed some steep jagged and slippery rocks to get down right beside the water. This allowed me to get a nice foreground element with the rocks and also allowed me to incorporate the crashing waves into the shot. This would not have been possible up above the rocks where all the other photographers were.
Solid shot! I'd say more skill than luck.
