This shot is lucky as these are the airplanes of the "red bull air race". Captured in the last year that they were still doing the races, 2019.
I work at an airport in Germany, they were packed up in a hangar here, only for a day or two, waiting for 2 Boeing 747's to pick them up and fly them to the next location.
So after I heard that, and finished my own flights of the day, I snuck into the hangar to get a good look at the planes, obviously armed with a camera.
I arrived, almost completely in the dark except for a few small lights (not 100% sure I could get in). But, there they were, about 14 of them. All strapped onto pallets, wings removed, wrapped in plastic.
In the tight space it was difficult to get them all in. So this is actually a stitched panorama to get them all in.
These planes got loaded onto the 747's the day after. And the Red Bull Air Race ended in 2019 after 16 years. So I consider myself lucky to be able to capture such a moment in the last few months of the races.
