2.36 - "Needs Work"

This lucky shot was a case of being in the right place at the right time. It was an early summer morning in Northeast Florida. I was on the beach and saw this gorgeous storm over the ocean. The tide was out and this tide pool perfectly still. I was hoping to get a good reflection. When I began processing, I not only saw the bird gliding over the reflection in the perfect spot, but the texture in the sand beneath the water. This remains among my best shots!

I'm curious what about this shot "Needs Work"

Hey Matt, I gave it a 3. I think it's a good shot as it is - curious as to what the colour would have looked like as I'm not sure the black and white does it for me as much as a colour version would have. I would try not to worry about the community rating - especially in this theme as I think some will be looking at how lucky the shot is, whereas many others are clearly just voting on the image itself based off of some of the ratings I've seen so far. In terms of improvements here, I actually think I'd much prefer this if the bird wasn't there, along with all the people (I think they're people?) as they're all just a bit of a distraction for me. If it was just the cloud, sand, water, reflection, I think it could be a stunning "fine art" type shot that was super minimalistic. Just my two cents though!

Thanks for the feedback. The vision for this shot was for B&W as it was inspired by the works of Clyde Butcher. Color looks ok, but B&W was better. The bird flying was one of the "lucky" aspects and I can see where it being in the image is a matter of taste. The "people" are actually other gulls and terns, which I had no power to remove (they were there first!). I would have preferred them being out as well.

Hey buddy, for me tbh, bnw does perfectly look here, and i even dont think i want to see how colors would look, as i imagine it wasnt shot on sunset. I can imagine this image beeing a part of series, and even alone she is perfectly enough for minimum 3...
