This is a stitched photo of 50+ images taken with an 85mm at f/1.2. The challenge is not on taking the actual images itself, but on post processing. As the depth of field is very thin, Photoshop couldn't merge them automatically specially the out of focus backgrounds. I had to do some manual merging using Panorama Tools by adding control points for discernable patterns.

I will say this must be an interesting technique. I guess my question, is why would you need 50+ images. Are you extremely close to the subject, and the 85mm was just too large? You were not able to stepback. Also Is the point, that the client wanted a photo that she could put on a billboard? I also do panos with many many images. But usually it is so every part of a landscape is hyper-focused, generally panos is not for depth of field, I don't think. I have some depth of field panos, but I may be just merging about 2-photos Ex:(The upper and lower parts of people)

Close enough that a single frame can only cover the model's upper body.
