Chasing the North Star – A Night in Meghalaya

Under the pristine night skies of Meghalaya, India, I embarked on an unforgettable journey to capture the mesmerizing trails of the North Star. This photograph is the result of 3.5 hours of dedication, patience, and over 300 carefully stacked images.

Using my Nikon D850 paired with a Nikon 20mm f/1.8 lens, I meticulously composed this frame, ensuring the celestial dance of the stars formed perfect concentric circles around the unwavering Polaris. The crisp air, the silence of the night, and the sheer beauty of the cosmos made this experience truly surreal.

Stacking these images together allowed me to reveal the Earth's subtle rotation, translating time into a stunning visual spectacle. The deep blues of the sky contrast against the infinite light trails, creating a dreamlike effect. Meghalaya’s remote landscapes provided the ideal dark sky conditions, free from the interference of urban light pollution.

This image is not just a photograph—it is a testament to patience, planning, and the magic of astrophotography.
