2.27 - "Needs Work"

This image was from an editorial fashion feature in Façon - an Australian fashion magazine. It was shot on a Sony A7R III using a Sony 24-105 F4 G lens. It is lit using a Godox AD200 Pro.

The initial colour and exposure correction and balancing was done in Adobe Lightroom and light retouching was completed by a retouch artist in Adobe Photoshop.

The shot was difficult because firstly we had to obtain permission to access and shoot on the rooftop of the tallest building in the city.

It was a very difficult shot because timing was critical. Both models were prepped for the shot by hair, makeup and a fashion assistant. When ready myself, the creative director and a fashion assistant lifted the female model onto the shoulders of the male model. Although the male model was extremely fit and strong, he could only hold her there for a short amount of time.

It relied on perfect timing to capture the moment that made it look effortless, the female model had to try and plank to make her whole body rigid, yet still look relaxed and the male model had to look strong without looking like he was straining.

We had two attempts at this shot, the first one was a failure, but the second one was successful and I captured this image.

A cropped version of the image was used in an editorial fashion feature.
