This photograph (“The Healing”) was shot in a competition length swimming pool out in the deep end using a waterproof sports underwater housing. In addition to the usual challenges of both model and photographer holding their breath and submerging beneath the surface for a brief window to capture the image, this particular underwater image presented an additional unique challenge – the antique wooden crutches were extremely buoyant and want to shoot straight up to the surface as soon as the model released them from her grip thus giving a very limited moment to successfully capture the image. This particular theme and concept took multiple shots and regrouping on the surface until a successful underwater capture was accomplished. Post processing amounted to batching into Lightroom and making global adjustments to deal with the underwater muted colors, post-processing in Photoshop CC that included colorizing the image to give a painterly effect.
