2.24 - "Needs Work"

This photo was captured in Oxfordshire, England. My daughter, always available for a photoshoot, lay down in our long grass on a partly-cloudy spring day. I had a handful of experiments to work through. She was very patient. With this image, I used my Canon EOS 6DII and my 24-70mm lens. But I placed a prism up next to the lens, the three-sided prism was held horizontally. I had no idea what would transpire. I had expected some distortion of her face, to be honest. But as I lay there on the grass, turning the prism and capturing images quite quickly, I noticed the magic in real time. The prism both reflected the white sky above, as well as the boughs of the apple tree above, and refracted the sunlight, resulting in a layered image that simply popped, especially given how the colors all coordinated so nicely. A sleeping beauty indeed. The only altering post-processing was removing her earring and necklace in Photoshop. I hadn't anticipated this image and the jewelry simply wasn't suitable. Otherwise, it was all caught in camera, at first an experiment, now a technique.
