This was Difficult!

This image is of moonrise over the mountains of Madeira with a dramatic cloudscape below. There is also a hint of star trails in the sky to enhance the image. The first challenge is to have the right conditions with cloud flowing past at just the right altitude, moon rise in the correct place so as not to blow out the mountain skyline, and a very clear sky. Many trips are required to this cold and remote location to catch this scene. The image is a time blend of many images to give the flowing clouds, the star trials and the rising moon. Complex image capture and editing of a very specific point in time. The moon only rises in this location twice a year adding to the challenge. All the images used where taken over a one hour period the same night.
