I love this photo, mostly because of a moment, how I caught it, but also because of that light that perfectly hit the hawk as it turned towards me. It was just a casual walk in a local park/forest, and I actually saw it first in the middle of the woods, standing on a log on the ground, and looking straight at me, fixated! I took a few photos of that scene, but it was too dark, not much light during the sunset in those woods, so ISO was through the roof. After a few moments, it flew towards me, but then turned to his right, and landed on this branch. As you can see at that moment, I was lucky for the sunset sun to hit the exact same spot! I took a bunch of shots, since it stayed there for a few minutes, and this one I liked the most.
After that, it went on to some tall, but cut off tree, where he saw a squirrel, and for a moment he was chasing her around that tree, before he tried to grab her on the ground, but missed (he seemed pretty embarrassed by it, lol). Then he moved on out of sight. Unfortunately, the squirrel chase was in bad light, and no really good angles, or I would probably be sharing those photos now.
