This particular image is the result of a happy accident. I had just gotten my 18mm full frame lens and was very excited to one of my favorite spots. Up until that point all my landscapes had been shot on a APSC 24mm prime.
I got there before the sunrise and waited patiently for my chance. Just as the sun was about to rise, someone came from under the pier to the left and started setting up RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I debated whether or not to confront them but decided on simply moving about 20 feet to my right. As it turns out, this was the correct decision because the wider angle of the 18mm allowed me to include more of the pier in the photo than had I remained in my original spot.
It's the second photo of my own that I've ever printed. It still feels strange to see it on my wall and to think that I am the one that actually took and developed it.

Good exposure. Maybe a little more warming in the shadows. Also, maybe a longer shutter speed to smooth out the water.

Too crispy is the words I would use. Unnaturally sharpened.

Love the subject! Great on the DOF. And, the lines.
Great job, James.
