Weeping Willow in the Rain
Backstory:
This photo was taken on a rainy morning near the National Mall, with the weeping willow’s branches cascading in front of a lone figure carrying an umbrella, and the Washington Monument subtly appearing in the background. The main challenge was working in low, overcast light while keeping the raindrops sharp and the figure properly exposed. Using my Nikon Z6 II with a 24-70mm f/4 lens on a monopod, I stabilized the shot and framed the composition to highlight the contrast between the delicate natural elements and the towering monument behind. The soft, diffused light from the rain created a moody, reflective atmosphere. This image stands out for its uncommon blend of natural and historical elements, capturing a quiet, cinematic moment that feels intimate yet iconic.
