This was shot in the studio with a friend of mine who is an actor/writer/director, so I came up with this concept to show his different personalities. I used my trusty Sony A7iv with a Sony 55mm f/1.8 lens on a tripod. I was tethered into Capture One Pro and fired the camera remotely from the computer so that I wouldn't risk bumping the camera between shots. I used a 3 light setup- a 38" "parabolic" softbox camera right with a deflector plate as the key, a 16"x16" softbox with a CTB gel just above the lens as a fill, and a small strip box boomed over the subject as a hair light. We started by shooting the serious version in the middle of the composition, then he changed into the other two variations, and I used the overlay tool in Capture One to line everything up. Compositing everything in Photoshop took some time; the trickiest part was adding a shadow of the central character onto the torso of the camera-left character. Because the camera was on a tripod, everything else lined up pretty well.
