I took this photo of my daughter and the horse she rode at the time in 2023 and had the vision for this shoot for almost a year. Most shoots with horses are done outside during golden hour in natural light. Some photographers use strobes, but most don't because horses spook very easily. I have still yet to see a similar shot like this in the various equestrian photo Facebook groups that I'm in.
This was a 5 light setup:
Key Light - Godox AD600 Pro w/60" softbox
Hair Light (not that I think it did much) - Godox AD200 Pro w/24" reflective umbrella
Back Light - Godox 860viii w/MagMod blue "gel"
Side Lights - Nanlite Pavotubes x2
Oh there was a smoke machine too. BTS: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CscJ5legvlS/
