I'm fortunate enough to live by the beach and it's an important part of my life. The sea always drives emotional force through the balance of both its ability to create calm and the fear of its power. This was clearly the latter, as waves battered the harbour wall as a lone gull slaloms its way through the wind and spray. I took this image with a Lumix S5 II and a Sigma 24-70mm Art II Lens. The light was perfect during a break in 'Storm Bert' on the UK coast.

I’m fairly colourblind so I generally shoot in black and white (particularly when an image I am capturing is full of yellow to red hue). The contrast here really brings out the shadow and light variance. Shot on RAW and edited in Lightroom.
