Thoughts on'Pointed fingers'

This is an image I captured from the top flight of a car park. I had visited earlier but the sun was in the wrong position. This time I got lucky with the sun streaming through an alleyway/gate with ornate top.
As an FYI - the mural depicts the history of Vermont, with senators Patrick Leahy and Bernie Sanders featured.

What are you initial thoughts on this image - what captures your attention?

I find the wall distracting, I do like the subjects and shadows. I added a quick screen capture crop. If the wall were less busy id def keep it.

I see your concern Francisco, and perhaps you are correct.
I do feel that the characters depicted on the wall play their part in the story though. There is more than one pointed finger, but perhaps this is lost in the busy backdrop and less relevant to the image.

I'd like to hear if others feel the same. Thanks for the honest feedback.

*** Taking your suggestion to heart I created a very quick crop of my own, trying to preserve key elements of the mural. Does this work better for viewers?

Yeah i see the pointed finger in the mural now that you point it out, it is very busy mural though. Maybe keeping this crop you made and ducking the light on the mural with a curves adjustment could have an interesting effect.

I have considered suggestions and re-edited accordingly. Let me know if you prefer the new version (I do....).
Thanks for the input.

the tighter crop definitely improves the interplay between the two pointing men.

I agree. I spent too much time trying to see what he was pointing out on the wall because the detail is there. This is a great shadow shot. Definitely tighten up the crop.

Or, did you have any more off to the sides? I would love to see one in landscape like this. It might allow you to keep some of the wall as it would create some distance between them and the wall. Just thinking.

We are all giving crop advice because really this is a very well executed shot in every other way. Nice work!

Thanks Ruth. I do have other images displaying more of the mural but i think this image cries out for a tighter crop as suggested. Otherwise as the mural so busy it tends to overpower the subject.
