How to Customize Lightroom to Give You More Useful Information

Lightroom contains more customization capabilities under its hood than it might seem initially, but one that rarely gets mentioned is the information the program shows you about your photos. Lightroom actually lets you display all sorts of data in these cells, and taking a few minutes to change their default settings can make your workflow a lot easier. This great video tutorial will show you how to do just that.

Coming to you from Anthony Morganti, this helpful video tutorial will show you how to customize the various information cells in Lightroom. This has been one of the most useful things I have done for my Lightroom experience. For example, I do not particularly care what focal length most of my photos were shot at, particularly for things like music concerts, so having an entire line dedicated to that and the lens that was used is pointless for my work. On the other hand, since I can't get particularly close to the stage, I often have to crop my images, sometimes significantly, and during those situations, I am definitely concerned with the final output resolution, so having a running update of that as I adjust the crop is quite helpful. Thus, I swapped out focal length for the real-time dimensions of the image. You can do a lot more than just that, however. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Morganti.
