This portrait was built around red light, movement and the interaction between the body and a piece of dark fabric. Rather than freezing everything completely, I allowed the material to move across the frame, creating areas where the figure appears partially revealed and partially absorbed by the red atmosphere. The contrast between the exposed torso and the heavy fabric gives the portrait a ceremonial, almost processional presence without relying on a literal narrative.
