Glass breath

This portrait was created by photographing the subject through a transparent curved surface. Rather than using it simply as an optical effect, I wanted the reflections and distortion to become part of the portrait itself, changing the way the face is read while keeping the subject recognisable. The warm directional light helped retain a calm, natural presence beneath the visual disruption.
