Wild gannets in New Zealand...

The Australasian gannet - also known as Takapu, is a large sea bird native to New Zealand.

They are mostly found on the West Coast of Auckland, in the North of New Zealand, where they nest until it’s time for migration.

This day was blowing a gale, and this particular bird had three attempts to land!

My hands were freezing and fingers numb, but this big bird of prey just seemed to glide in slow motion, so it seemed easy to grab at the time, if I forgot about the whole freezing thing.....
