Blown Away

One of my favorite views in the desert is watching the sand roll over the dunes when it's windy. I could watch it for hours. I recently finished a trip to Egypt and didn't get a single picture of the sand dunes (which I spent days hiking across). I got back to the states and started driving from Oklahoma on my way to Alaska. Someone told me about some sand dunes in western Oklahoma and I decided to stop and check them out. There were 50+ mph winds which made for some amazing movement to photograph. I really liked how quickly the wind would reset a dune so that any tire tracks or footprints were quickly washed away.

I had to pay close attention to all the ORV traffic as they would come flying over the dunes and could possibly run me over. It's funny that I traveled all the way to Egypt and I got the sand dune pictures I wanted in Oklahoma.
