As the sad story of the fall of Eastman Kodak continues, news reports coming out state that Kodak is poised to see off its entire film division, looking to exit that segment of the market entirely. That division includes Personalized Imaging and Document Imaging departments which encompass digital scanners, picture kiosks, souvenir photo products, photographic paper, as well as Kodak's film businesses, the once bright and shining star of its core competencies.

You may not be one of their thousands of fans, but Fujifilm's retro-style mirrorless cameras are some of the most popular compact cameras out there. The X-100 and the X-Pro1 are some of the top selling compact cameras in the industry. These images leaked by Digicame-info.com depict what appears to be another Fujifilm camera called the X-E1 that could be on the market sometime soon.

Nikon has publicly announced the availability of a new line of COOLPIX cameras, one with Android OS and WiFi connectivity. The new S6400, S800c and the S01 are all designed to give intuitive control on the go, and the S800c is built in with an Android OS and WiFi connectivity. Canon USA today announced the availability of two new PowerShot super-zoom camearas: the new PowerShot SX500 IS and PowerShot SX160 IS digital cameras featuring an impressive 30x and 16x optical zoom, respectively. Canon claims that these new models include long-reaching zoom and Canon's Intelligent Image Stabilization technology which analyzes the scene being shot and compensates for camera movement for steady images and video even while panning or walking.

Sure, so what if this camera name has been rumored since 2005? Photokina is coming and Canon is going to need something to unveil at the show. Especially with the EOS M already announced, Photokina seems a likely opportunity to dazzle the crowd with a new DSLR. So what would the Canon 3D specs look like?

B&H Photo just announced Sony's latest camera, the NEX-EA50 Full HD Pro Camcorder with an 18-200mm servo zoom lens, the first E-mount lens with servo zoom. Called the NEX-EA50UH (rolls so easily off the tongue), it features a new Exmor APS-C CMOS sensor and delivers Full HD 1080p at 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 frames per second.

Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) and Getty Images management announced today they have formed a partnership to acquire Getty Images, Inc., a global creator and distributor of still imagery, video and multimedia products, from Hellman & Friedman for $3.3 billion. Carlyle will acquire a controlling stake in Getty Images, while Getty Images Co-Founder and Chairman Mark Getty and the Getty family will roll substantially all of their ownership interests into the transaction.

Varying sources including CanonRumors and Northlight Images are reporting that Canon's next full frame DSLR will be the 6D, and it will be announced in October. That, and Canon will not have a new DSLR ready to unveil for Photokina.

Specialized lenses are tricky things. Since they are built for a set of specific purposes in mind, they really need to follow through on that small list of tasks lest they be discarded as an unnecessary expenditure. An image has surfaced of a Canon 135mm f/1.8 L IS lens, and it is a gorgeous creature. Though there is supposedly a patent placed by Canon for a 135mm, is this the lens or just an excellent rendering?

UPS just dropped off the box containing the new Sigma 180mm f/2.8 macro lens not thirty minutes ago. I'll be testing this lens out over the course of the next week, but I wanted to share some images and comparison of size to the competitor lenses to whet your appetite. My first impression? It's beautiful, and everything I expected.

I'm sure many of you heard the original hooplah involving Canon's issues with the new Rebel T4i/650D, and if not, allow me to summarize: the grips were changing colors and allergic reactions were being reported related to some serial numbers. Well Canon Australia, which originally stated that its cameras were not affected by a fault - when they were - which could result in allergic reactions and red eyes when users come into contact with the camera, has expanded the number of serials affected.

Sony's business woes continue as today the tech giant reported a stinging loss of 24.6 billion yen ($316 million) for the second quarter of 2012, compared to the 15 billion yen loss the same time last year. But fear not Sony camera fans! The camera sales were not the where the loss was prevalent. In fact, cameras seem to be the only thing keeping Sony afloat.

Slow motion is fantastic, that I'm pretty sure we can all agree on. It makes everything more awesome. The awesome works so well at the Olympics, that Conan O'Brien wanted to see if he could recreate the stunning visuals captured during the Olympic events and transfer that greatness to comedy. According to Huh Magazine, Kensington and Chelsea College in southwest London are going to be the first college to offer a class in iPhoneography called "iPhoneography: An Introduction to Photography with the iPhone." And while I think the iPhone is a legitimate creative imaging tool, the monetizing nature of this course makes me shake my head.

Even as Kodak Cameras have ballooned in value, Kodak is still struggling in their attempt to convert billions of dollars in patents into cash to turn around the haggard company. Unfortunately, they lost an appeal of a $1 billion patent suit against Apple and RIM, a turn of events that doesn't help the struggling former photography giant.

Canon has announced the pricing, specs, and availability of the new mirrorless, the EOS M camera! It is launching with the new 22mm f/2 STM lens as a kit for $799, and the new EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, Mount Adapter EF-EOS M and Speedlite 90EX will all be available in October at an estimated retail price of $299.99, $199.99 and $149.99 respectively.

I'm honestly really surprised how long it took to get rumors for this camera. Usually some site has a well-placed source that lets all of us gear heads in on the secret well before launch. With the Canon EOS M (their mirrorless), we didn't get much of anything till a few days ago, and Canon Rumors just posted specs today.

Our friends over at SLR Lounge just brought up an interesting topic that Jezebel posted on a few days ago. I personally received an email alert letting me know that the new magazine Pix, which is aimed specifically at female photographers, was now available. I pointed it out to the rest of the Fstoppers staff, but we didn't know what to make of it without looking at the content. Well apparently the content can be construed as particularly offensive.

Many of you are familiar with Blair Bunting, one of the premier commercial portrait photographers in the United States, and a good friend of mine. A couple weeks ago we were chatting about lenses when he brought up this project he did several years back. I instantly wanted to share it, and we tweeted an image of his 50mm f/1.4 next to his 110mm f/.95, which many of you thought was fake. It wasn't.

I've been looking at the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100 for a couple weeks now, and as awesome as the specs look on paper, I'm somehow still in a fog of "meh." The compact point-and-shoot camera used to be relevant, but I haven't felt that to be the case for some time now. Over the past few months while other sites have been quick and ready with the rumor mill surrounding the entry level full frame Canon camera, Canon Rumors has remained skeptical. Today however, they have come out with a brand new rumor and they, rather begrudgingly, seem to put a little more legitimacy on the speculated camera with a set of new specs.

We all take a lot of photos with our phones. And you know what? That's ok. The camera on the iPhone takes pretty darn good images, and the plethora of mobile editing apps gives us all more flexibility than we would ever need. But what happens to all these photos after we edit them and post them to Facebook or Twitter? We forget about them. Well now we can actually make use of those photos, and bring them into the physical world hassle free, insanely cheap, and unexpectedly gorgeous.

Wacom just announced the impending release of two new Cintiq interactive pen displays to their line of tablet/monitor hybrid products- a widescreen HD model as well as a widescreen HD touch Cintiq. In case you didn't know, the Cintiq is like an art board as a monitor, allowing you to use the popular Wacom pens directly onto a screen rather having a separate tablet.

Last weekend, my buddy David Cross who works with our friends over at BorrowLenses sent me a text that he was building something unusual and really cool. When he sent me the photos after he finished his project, I was immediately excited. His DIY ring light (which they are calling the spider light, tentatively) not only leaves really unusual catch lights, but is easy and fun to build. Canon is recalling the popular S100 line of point and shoot cameras due to a lens error. The error occurs when a part disconnects on the inside when exposed to high temperatures or humidity. Only certain serial numbers are affected, so make sure yours in not one of them.

Canon has announced the impending arrival of Firmware v2.0.X for the Canon 7D, which has a whole host of upgrades that is bound to make any 7D owner jump with glee. Included is an increase to the maximum burst rate, GPS compatibility, increase in maximum limit for auto ISO, manual audio level adjustments and in-camera RAW processing among the eleven upgrades to the popular camera.
