Coming to you from Micael Widell, this wonderful video essay talks about why he takes photo walks and what they do for him. I think Widell is really on to something when he speaks about how taking pictures (free of client or personal expectations) helps him to live in the moment. I'm personally one of those people who always has about 10 thoughts in his head at any given time, and I find there are just a few things in the world that can clear my mind of the clutter and get me to focus on just that one thought for the moment, so I tend to treasure those things, photography being one of them. Of course, that's just my personal experience, and we all take away different things from photography, but if you need a quick reminder of why it's a special pursuit, give the video above a watch.
