Long exposures at night are something have always had fun shooting. Was working on a small portfolio specifically about camping / outdoors product photographs. This image came from several ideas on how to shoot a tent and make it look a bit more exciting. Ended up not using this image in the collateral materials I sent to various outdoor product manufacturers but it was quite fun to make.

This was taken during a long weekend road trip over to Southern California. Specifically, this is at a campsite in Joshua Tree National Park. My initial idea was to include Joshua Tree in the background against the sky. Used Google Maps and several camping review websites to find a campsite positioned with a Northern view and several of the trees around. There are some trees can see to the right of the tent but they simply were not close or tall enough make an impact. Was still a blast to create the image and layer together Photoshop.

Shot with the Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/2 on the Nikon Z7, used the built-in intervalometer.
Star shots were 15 second intervals over the course of an hour then assembled the trails using StarStaX. The tent, foreground and background were separate shots. Used an AD600 with a small octa inside the tent.
