Cape Disappointment State Park is a public recreation area on Cape Disappointment, located southwest of Ilwaco, Washington, on the bottom end of Long Beach Peninsula, the northern headlands where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean.
This was a day of big waves slamming into the rock face and draining back out only to collide with the incoming surge. At this point all the energy of both waves crash blasting sea water up as high as 80 feet. All this made that much more spectacular with the fact this small cove is only about 200 yards from where I stood to the lighthouse in the distance.
