Túr na Tréigthe (Tower of the Forsaken)
Rising defiantly from the churning Atlantic, this lone sea stack off the Irish coast stands like a forgotten fortress weathered, watchful, and unwavering. Layer upon layer of stratified rock reveals a story of deep time, of land once united and now surrendered to the sea. The mist in the air and the grassy edge of the cliffs cast a haunting stillness, as though nature itself pauses to pay respect.

This image was captured on my Canon EOS R6 using a 5-image HDR bracket (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2) to balance the dramatic light and detail. Scouting the right vantage point was a challenge I relied entirely on Google Maps and satellite views to plan my approach. Once on location, I shot from 3–5 different perspectives, still uncertain I had the perfect frame. Then, as I turned to leave, I glanced back and there it was. This moment. This view.

The sky had begun to glow with a breathtaking sunset, warm orange tones seamlessly blending with the cool blue hues of the evening. That fleeting contrast of fire meeting calm framed this ancient monolith in a palette only nature could paint. Túr na Tréigthe is a monument to isolation and endurance—a symbol of what remains when everything else has faded.
