The Antarctic peninsula? It's basically just water, ice, snow, and sky – think tons of white and blue. I was on a ship, using my camera with a long lens to scan the horizon. Super lucky, I spotted a humpback whale! Just a thin black line and a fin, boom! I quickly took a bunch of photos and actually got a sweet shot of its tail as it went back down. It was pure luck that I was looking at the exact right moment because it popped up and then was gone in a flash. If I'd been off by a few seconds, I would've totally missed it! This shot took 3rd place on the ships’ photo contest. Because who can’t resist a cute penguin chick (1st place) and a cuddly looking seal pup (2nd place).
