Is This the Most Ostentatious Leica Ever Released?

Leica has announced the launch of the M10-P White, an edition of the stealthy M10-P that is definitely not inconspicuous. If the color isn’t enough to raise an eyebrow, the price probably will.

The standard M10-P is a refined version of the M10 but features a nearly silent shutter and does away with the distinctive red dot. By stark contrast, the M10-P White brings back the red dot and definitely wants to stand out with its white paint and matching white leather trim. A mere $14,495 will buy you Leica’s shiny new rangefinder, but if it’s not special enough for you, there’s a more expensive version.

The Ghost edition is a collaboration with HODINKEE, which Leica explains is the “foremost destination for all things in the world of horology.” I think that’s PR-speak for: “they make very nice watches.” The limited edition Ghost ditches the red dot and uses a color scheme that apparently offers “a nod to the desirable ‘ghosted’ aesthetic emerged through the natural aging and wear of a wristwatch bezel, creating an equally beautiful new look and feel with a storied past.”

There are only 250 Ghosts available, each priced at $14,995, so you may want to move quickly to bag yours.

Oof, I do really love how the white looks. Knock $12k off and I'm in.

Alex, I agree. It would be a steal of a deal.

Just thought I’d mention that this article reads as though describing jewelry, not cameras. Perhaps that was your point.

I think I will stick to my M3. It works and is paid for.

Ostentatious. Out of reach. Iconic. Leica.
That is what seem easy on the surface and hard for others to pull off is probably an excellent business strategy.

The most ostentatious Leica this week.
There will be a newer and more ridiculous one next week.

I'm holding out for the one clad in Kangaroo scrotum leather with buttons made from ground up Koala nail clippings.

The Leica rumor mill says that the have one coming out covered in unicorn leather and the lens coating is made from mermaid tears.

I’m all over they one then.

horology > horlogery ;)

Nice looking camera if you can a afford a Rolex why not buy a Leica to go with it!!

When demand exceeds supply, the company is clearly doing something right. Leica Camera AG has three distinct markets - camera users, camera collectors and camera wearers. No-one collects Sonys or wears Lumix cameras as fashion accessories.

Ostentatiousness could stimulate others to do a better designed products.

Meh, it doesn't glow in UV - pass...

Does it come with white lenses?

Absolutely.

I would have called it the white one the "Lady Snowblood" special edition.

Sadly I it bet neither of these cameras will ever experience the joy of having photons strike the sensor.

Now Leica needs to make a nanotube black version. However no one would be able to see the camera though.

This is the perfect companion of a 50K watch.
