Canon has announced that it will be hosting an online press conference on April 20 in order to present some new products. Will the much-anticipated EOS R5 officially be launched?
Frustratingly, it seems more likely that we’ll have to wait a little longer for the R5 as this press conference seems intended to announce the arrival of the C300 Mark III, a cinema camera expected to feature a 4K super 35 sensor capable of recording 4K 120 in Cinema Raw Light format.
The timeline for the R5 and the R6 remains subject too much debate at present. Specifications of the R5 have been confirmed and yet before coronavirus threw the entire world into disarray, the R6 was said to be coming to market first, with the R6 shipping in June and the R5 arriving on shelves in July. Canon Rumors seems confident that the announcements for these two cameras will not be disrupted by the impact of coronavirus on supply chains and manufacturing, with Canon preferring to stick to its planned schedule with the possibility of being unable to meet demand during the coming months.
If you’re planning to be at the front of the queue for the R5, you may want to get your pre-orders in as early as possible. At present B&H Photo has a “Notify When Available” button to help you out.
Canon will be live-streaming its announcement at 1 pm EDT (10 am PDT) on Monday, April 20. Will you turn off Netflix briefly to find out what is being announced? Leave a comment with your expectations below.
