On our end of a year,2021, trip through Caifornia's North Coast and Oregon's South Coast we stopped at Redwood National and State Park, and one of the trails we took led us to Lady Bird Johnson Grove.
'This grove was dedicated to former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson, for all of her conservation and environmental work, by President Nixon, in 1969.' (paraphrase nps.gov/places/lbjtrailhead.htm)
After we parked, we headed down the trail admiring the massive and tall old growth Redwoods. It was near mid-morning, yet it was very dark due to canopy formed by the tree's intertwining branches. We happened upon the spot depicted here where the sunlight was like a stage's spotlight focused upon the stars below, the ferns and salal, yet the Redwood was ever-present, tall and proud.
