I'd long wanted to do a shoot at this location - a tunnel near King's Cross station in London - but had never got around to making it happen.
Consequently this shot is a composite; the background photo by User:Colin is used and heavily adapted with his permission.
Maria is a dancer & sideshow performer. The original shot was against a grey background in a studio, lit from either side with feathered strip boxes. I didn't have a composite in mind when I took it but the possibility occurred to me later. I'd have lit Maria slightly differently if I'd planned the composite beforehand.
