This might be my favourite pic so far this year.. taken just before Christmas with model / aerialist Maja Stina Andersen
Lighting:
Gridded strip boxes behind and to either side of model, pointing 45 degrees forwards
Large softbox high above and behind model, pointing forwards and down - flagged with black velvet to prevent flare
Two large white v flats behind camera position to provide fill by bouncing the top rear light
And the most important - and most novel - element: The Isis wings diffuse and reflect the rear light providing a beautiful soft but sculpting light on Maja. Without them in the position shown she'd be very much darker and need a lot more fill.
Processing was mainly skin work and a replacement background, with a bit of dodging & burning. The original background was similar - and lit with a spot - but tidying it up would have been more work than dropping in a replacement.

very cool concept, looks like a bird caught in motion
thanks David!
