On the Edge of Beauty

Sunset at Tre Cime in the Dolomites. I spent 18 hours here on Thanksgiving by myself. During the day while I was waiting for the right lighting, I decided to go explore the area. I found a cave that led to a cliff walking area (with safety wires bolted into the rock). I pulled out my safety rope that I always have tucked away in my hiking pack and started to explore the compositional options. This one really stood out to me and I waited for the lighting to be right. I shot a number of angles and then decided to stand in frame to give a sense of scale. After numerous epic poses (that all failed abysmally) I settled on a basic stance and tried to look as not stupid as possible. The main part of the image was 2 exposures and then a focus stacked image for the foreground. This has quickly become one of my favorite places on earth!
