Sacred Circle of Ancient Redwoods

Visit Big Sur, California!

This space felt truly special to be in and to photograph. The perfect circle and symmetry achieved by the beautiful redwoods coupled with the wonderfully atmospheric misty morning came together to form a stunning photograph.

I took a series of bracketed exposures to preserve the detail in the trees and the bright, misty sky with the sun directly overhead. With my tripod facing straight up, I only had less than five minutes to take this image before the rain started up again. I am so grateful for this brief break in the middle of a pacific storm front that revealed such a magical moment.
