I had seen many versions of this image. I was in Amsterdam only for one night and went hunting for it. I knew the general area but not the exact location for this spot. I stumbled on it almost by accident. Once there I was clear on how to shoot it - extreme long exposures to smooth out the water and keep the verticals absolutely straight and then one shorter exposure for the lights ! In post I wanted to process it almost like a monochrome image with daubs of coloured lights in the windows and reflections.
