A Review of the New Sigma 90mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens

Premium portrait lenses usually offer apertures of around f/1.4 and sit at prices around $1,500 to $2,500. Sigma's new 90mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens seeks to fill that need at an affordable price, and this great video review takes a look at the image quality and performance you can expect from it in practice.

Steven Sasson claims that he invented digital photography when he created this strange looking camera. The camera could shoot stills and record up to 30 of them on a digital tape. It's amazing how far we have come in such a short amount of time.

Kodak Loses Patent Case vs Apple/RIM

Even as Kodak Cameras have ballooned in value, Kodak is still struggling in their attempt to convert billions of dollars in patents into cash to turn around the haggard company. Pushing a Camera to its Limits on a Low Light Husky Ride

If you want to know how good your camera is, pushing its abilities as far as they will go is the way to find out. Combining speed, vibration, and low light stretches its photographic capabilities, and flying mud, rain, and thick fog help too.

My Bokeh Is Better Than Yours Part Two: How to Calculate Blur

In the first part of this series of two, I introduced bokeh — out-of-focus areas — and outlined the main controls of defocus. These include sensor size, focal length, aperture, distance to subject, and distance to the backdrop. How, then, do you compare defocus between lenses and cameras? Read on.

A Review of the Impressively Affordable Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM Lens

Canon has impressed us time and again with their RF lenses, which push the boundaries of design and performance. Such superlative lenses are not cheap, however, and many photographers may be looking for more reasonably priced options. The RF 16mm f/2.8 STM is one such option, and it is quite portable on top of that, and this excellent video review takes a look at the kind of performance and image quality you can expect from it in practice.

Tom Guilmette Plays With The Phantom HD

We have all heard about and seen footage from the Phantom camera. This thing can shoot amazing slomo at 1050fps at 1080p. I, however, have never actually seen the camera itself before. Tom takes us through a quick tutorial, because we will probably never get to touch one ourselves. Is anyone else shocked by the terrible navigation on this camera? For the price you would think they could add a D-pad and LCD.
