We said it was coming, and now it's here: Nikon Capture NX-D is available for download completely free of charge. If you're a Nikon shooter just starting out and don't have anyting you love for RAW processing, it certainly doesn't hurt to give this a try.

It's "fine".
It's the most disgusting excuse for software, bad UI and programming that I've seen in years! On any Mac that is. They stray so far from GUI guidelines as to make it a foreign object, and it appears it was developed in Java so they could cross-platform it easier.
All in all not even worth the time to download. And they (along with Canon I might add) are following deeper and deeper into a hole. They need to stick to the camera's and optics and leave software design to those that know how.
If you're not aware, this is merely reconstituted SilkyPix. Apparently Nik software originally wrote NX-2, and when Google bought Nik it seems to have left Nikon out in the cold, so reconstituted SilkyPix it is from here on in. This has a lot of NX-2 users hemming and hawing, but most of them don't seem to realize the gig is up and the blue pill is no longer an option.
