Natural Talent Is a Made-Up Excuse to Not Move Forward
Natural talent is something often attributed left and right to people. Talent is quite mysterious; no one can put their finger on what it is. If it’s there, you can make it, but if it’s not, you cant. But is it all a made-up excuse? It might be.

Projecting Into the Future: Anticipate Your Subjects
Photography is all about time. It's the only visual art that is able to hold a single moment and fix it for our lasting consideration. To make that happen we as photographers must be keenly aware of both the slice of time that we are capturing and the all the time which leads up to that important moment. To do this well we must look into the future.
Searching for Inspiration: Cinema the Closest Relative
Looking at other photographers’ work for inspiration can be overwhelming. With an almost unlimited amount of photography to look through, I can feel lost. I often turn to other mediums to look for inspiration.

Photokina: Not Cancelled Yet?
Merriam Webster defines tone-deaf as: "having or showing an obtuse insensitivity or lack of perception, particularly in matters of public sentiment, opinion, or taste." I thought they'd have illustrated the definition with photokina by now.

Utah Teen Sues State Over Social Media Law
Utah high school student Hannah Zoulek has mounted a challenge against the state of Utah, targeting the controversial Social Media Regulation Act set to be enacted on March 1. This act requires social media platforms to verify the ages of users and secure parental consent for users under 18. It also imposes a digital curfew, barring minors from accessing these platforms from 10:30 pm to 6:30 am.
[BTSV] Contest Entry: The Creek (dedication/party geekness)
With less than a week to go, the Fstoppers 2011 Behind the Scenes Contest is quickly drawing to an end. So, we are spending a lot more time looking over and posting user submissions. This latest entry may not have the best final image out there but I really dig the adventurous/road trip vibe. And what really got me was recognizing myself in the final seconds of the video. You know what I'm talking about... being hunched over your laptop, running through your selection process, while the party rages on around you. It's never very hard to spot the photo geek in a crowd. Best of luck Matthew. Last minute reminder: $21,000 worth of gear is nothing to sneeze at so get those contest entries in damn it. tick, ticK TICK!

Rumors of a Viewfinder on an Updated EOS M Given Merit?
Canon has just filed for a patent for a 100% coverage optical viewfinder, which wouldn't be that exciting except that this one is tiny. Instead of the traditional physical adjustment, this patent focuses on an electronically switched transmission / non-transmission of the liquid crystal. This seems to give merit to the rumors last week regarding an updated EOS M with a viewfinder, as that would likely be the only camera small enough to take advantage of this patent.
The Wednesday Rundown 6.16.10
Welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. This weekend my mind has been on lighting. This is something I need to work on personally. How do I use what I have to it's full potential? I have found a couple videos that focus on the lighting more this week. Hopefully we all can learn a bit. Thanks again for the comments. contactfstoppers@gmail.com
