I was inspired by a CGI image I had seen using an apple, so I wanted to see if I could achieve a similar result with an actual photograph. I used a bottle cutter to cut the bottle, then tried to seal the main bottle so it could contain liquid and after some trial and error I managed to achieve it. I then refilled the bottle with cider and used a real apple in the bottle and the base and added a knife to suggest it had cut open the bottle. I had no studio lights so used some small desk lamps with tiny one inch lamps and made snoots from black cardboard to direct the lights. These were my first attempts at still life. This is an actual photograph and shows you can achieve good results with inexpensive equipment.

Hmmm...I like this one better than the grapes...

The drops on the knife are a nice touch. You thought of all the details. I love the tones too btw.
