This shot was taken behind a bush close to our backyard. This young mockingbird seemed fairly new to its surroundings and was apparently foraging for food seemingly unbothered by my presence a few feet away. I was fortunately trying my new Nikon 300 mm pf lens mounted on a Nikon D500 body and the timing seemed to work out well. I was able to get at the bird's eye level without disturbing it. The shallow canopy of nearby vegetation provided for a beautiful soft bokeh in the background while the leaves and late summer foliage provided for some soft colors in the foreground. Image was shot at f/4, 1/320s and iso 200. The funny pouty expression of the bird made the image special for me.
