I took this image while documenting a bouldering session this Fall at Rat Rock in Central Park. I wanted to convert the feeling of tension and excitement from outdoor bouldering so I wanted to get creative with the technique.

I used rear sync flash and lined up my subject with a half dark half bright background/foreground. The main challenge was waiting for the right moment to capture the emotion in the face and get the camera motion right for the feeling.
