A female cardinal keeping warm during a rare snow storm in central North Carolina.
I took this in my backyard with my Sigma-150-600mm on a Sony a7iii. We got a rare snow storm in central North Carolina. I keep multiple bird feeders in my yard, and even with the snow the birds were still out filling their bellies. I figured I'd go out and see if I could get any decent shots, especially since I don't get to shoot in snow very often.
Even at 600mm I had to crop in quite a bit to get the bird this close in the frame. This was shot at f/6 as thats as wide as this lens goes at 600mm. I thought the snow falling made for some interesting bokeh as well.

The bird is great, but it would be better if there was a greater focus difference between the bird and the branches.
Ok….👍
