This is a Dunlin (a type of shorebird) swiftly foraging along the shore of Lake Michigan on a beach in Chicago. Taken with a Sony A7III and a 200-600 lens. Settings are f/6.3 1/3200 ISO 250 456mm. To take the photo I put my camera to the ground waiting for the bird to approach as he foraged along the beach in the hopes that a wave would hit behind the bird to create the bokeh balls. I shot backlit into the sun and the bokeh balls are created by the drops of the water splashing in the wave. Shot in the golden light of a late evening in Spring. Personally, it was a very challenging shot to achieve as multiple things had to come together to create this single shot image, with the bird in focus and the bokeh effect.
