This uncomplicated photo is why I want a setup that can generate meaningful bokeh. For me the brilliant, warm colors and sharp macro details of the Lantana blooms against the cool background, obscured by strong bokeh are what makes it all work.

I used a Tamron 70-300 macro zoom. Having it extended all the way out at 300mm with the macro feature engaged and shooting at very close range provided the bokeh I was after.
