Gansbaai, South Africa, is renowned as one of the world's premier destinations for great white shark viewing and cage diving experiences. Located about two hours from Cape Town along the scenic coastline of the Western Cape, Gansbaai is situated near the notorious Shark Alley, a narrow channel between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock, known for attracting these apex predators due to the abundance of seals.
As a teenager I used to windsurf from the beach at Uilenkraalsmond about 5km from Shark Alley. This was before it was known that Great Whites frequented the bay. Scary!
This photo was taken on an organized tour in 2012 from Kleinbaai (close to Gansbaai).
